WHAT IS THE BIBLE?
- The Bible is a library, a collection of books written at different time and places by people of faith to express that faith.
- The Bible is the INSPIRED WORD OF GOD. Men under the influence of the Holy Spirit wrote the Bible.
- The Bible is divided into
- the Old Testament and
- the New Testament.
SHOULD I READ THE BIBLE?
- Read the Bible with Faith, believing that God is still speaking today as He spoke to the people then.
- Read the Bible with a LISTENING attitude, the way we listen to our best friend… waiting for them to speak to us.
DO WE READ THE BIBLE AT MASS?
- Yes, during the Liturgy of the Word!
- Remember on Sunday there are three readings!
- The First Reading is from the Old Testaments
- The Second Reading is from the New Testament.
- The Gospel is from the New Testament.
- You remember there are Four Gospels!

- Mark
- Luke
- John
OnSunday at Mass the Reader or Lector
uses a book called a
Lectionary. See the picture above.
- It has parts of the Bible, that is parts of the
- Old Testament and the
- New Testament in it.
WHAT SHOULD I DO AT MASS?
- God wants to speak to you!
- Listen for a WORD or PHRASE.
- Ask: What special message do you have for me, Lord?
- Ask: Lord, what is it you want me to do?
