As part of the Making All Things New initiative, the Archdiocese offered a generous early retirement package to employees throughout the Archdiocese who are nearing retirement age. Lynn chose to accept the offer and retired as of July 31. All of us are grateful for her many years of service and wish her a blessed beginning of this new time in her life.
When the Lord closes a door, He always opens another for the good of His flock. Our new Director of Religious Education is Miss Katy Feeney, who has worked in the Archdiocese of NY for decades. She was a member of the Parish Mission Team and has produced many CD’s of her beautiful singing and harp playing. An educator with two Master’s Degrees, during the last decade, Katy has been principal of two schools in the Archdiocese of New York; Our Lady of the Assumption School in the Bronx was awarded the coveted Blue Ribbon status by the U.S. Department of Education - an outstanding accomplishment. Having finished her most recent job and knowing that I would need a Director of Religious Education, I invited her to consider the job here at the new Parish of Immaculate Conception and Assumption of Our Lady, and she agreed. She has already begun to prepare with the complete assistance and collaboration of Lynn Callahan and her staff so that we will have a seamless transition.
You will get to know Katy and I know you will appreciate the many gifts and talents she will bring to our Parish.
May Our Lady Immaculate and Assumed into Heaven pray for us!
Fr. Anthony Domenic Sorgie
