Our Parish observed Reconciliation Monday on March 25 at Immaculate Conception Church, and Confessions were heard from 2-4 PM & 6-9 PM in three languages (English, Spanish, and Italian).
Confessions were also heard in Spanish on Tuesday, March 26, at 6:30 PM, at Assumption Church.
These were the last scheduled opportunities for Confession until after Easter Sunday. Confessions are still available by appointment by calling the Parish Office:
What is Tenebrae?
Tenebrae, which translates as “shadows” or “darkness,” is a Holy Week service that is at least 1,000 years old. Originally held after midnight but later held at a variety of times, Tenebrae would be sung on each day of the Triduum in a church lit only by 15 candles. These candles were extinguished one by one until the church was left in darkness.
Like “Lessons and Carols” during Advent, Tenebrae consists of hymns and readings, the ones proper to Lauds and Matins (Solemn Morning Prayer) for the days of the Triduum.
Join us for these services on Thursday, Friday, and Saturday of Holy Week at 10 AM in Immaculate Conception Church. These services will be livestreamed.
The prayers for Tenebrae can be found below:
