Our Feast Day Celebration
Solemnity of the Immaculate Conception
Because December 8 is on a Sunday, our Parish Feast of the Immaculate Conception is transferred to Monday. Masses on Monday, December 9 are as follows:
- 7:30 AM Assumption
- 8:30 AM Immaculate Conception
- 9:30 AM School Mass, Immaculate Conception
- 12:00 PM Immaculate Conception
- 7:30 PM Immaculate Conception
Msgr. Thomas Caserta, pastor of St. Bernadette’s Shrine Church in Brooklyn, will be the guest celebrant at the 7:30 PM and the preacher. Msgr. Caserta had been the Spiritual Director of seminarians in the Diocese of Brooklyn for more than 25 years. He has taught as St. John’s University for more than 30 years. He is a sought-after preacher and has given retreats all over the United States.
Reception and Struffoli Contest
After the 7:30 evening Mass on Monday, we will gather for dessert and festivities in honor of Our Lady in the Lower Church, hosted by the Rosary Society of Immaculate Conception.
Once again, Fr. Sorgie asks everyone to bake or bring a throwaway plate of their favorite Christmas cookie. If you wish to enter a plate of struffoli (pignolate), they will be judged to find the best in the parish! Fr. Sorgie did not win last year so he is the first entry.
Also, our first $2,000 Bonanza winner will be pulled. Coffee, tea and soft drinks will be served.
