Pope Francis has announced 2021 as the Year of St. Joseph. This year marks the 150th anniversary of the declaration of St. Joseph as the Patron of the Universal Church. Pope Francis established this Year of St. Joseph so that “every member of the faithful, following his example, may strengthen their life of faith daily...”
St. Joseph had the entire Church under his protection, since the Holy Family was the Church. Our Lady is the Mother of the Church, Jesus Christ is the Church’s head, and the Holy Spirit is the soul of the Church. Joseph treasured Mary and Jesus and valiantly protected them. His courage, his obedience and his sacrifices surely model his deep love and faith.
On March 19, 2021, Cardinal Dolan plans to consecrate the Archdiocese of New York to St. Joseph. Let us join together in prayer as we celebrate the Year of St. Joseph.
