Fr. Bob Verrigni has been transferred by Cardinal Dolan to St. John the Evangelist in Mahopac, New York. Fr. Bob hopes to begin there on Monday, August 8.
We pray that his priestly ministry continues to bear much fruit, thank him for his service to our Parish and wish him the choicest of God's blessings.
On Sunday, July 17, in his homily reflecting on Luke 10:38-42 (Jesus in the house of Martha and Mary), Fr. Sorgie offered two book recommendations to serve as inspiration for anyone who is looking to achieve a more intimate relationship with God in light of the hectic nature of the world in which we live.
In order to assist anyone who would like to get one or both of the books, both books will have a link to the store page of Barnes and Noble. They can also be found in most bookstores.
Our RCIA Program will begin in September for all adults and young adults who have not completed their Sacraments of Baptism, Communion, and Confirmation. Converts to the faith are always welcome.
Please contact Fr. Sorgie at the Parish Office - (914) 961-3643 - as we welcome the RCIA Class of 2023, whose Sacraments will be made at the Easter Vigil on April 8, 2023.
Jesus invites all of us to spread His Gospel to the entire world, why not start right here in Tuckahoe and Eastchester?
There is no higher calling than to spread the Catholic faith to the younger generation. The Immaculate Conception‐Assumption of Our Lady Parish Religious Education Program (PREP) needs catechists, classroom aides, and hall and parking lot monitors for the 2022–2023 school year. This call goes out to all adults, college students, and mature high school students. We particularly encourage those parents who have children enrolled in PREP to participate in any role in which you feel comfortable. The Lord calls all of us to serve Him in this vital ministry of the Church.
For PREP to meet its obligation to teach each child in the Parish, we need at least 35 catechists and a sufficient number of classroom aides and hall and parking lot monitors. Catechists are needed for each grade level from 1st to 8th Grade.
Proposed PREP Sessions
TUESDAY
4:30 ‐ 5:30 PM | Grades 1‐8
6:30 ‐ 7:30 PM | Grades 6 ‐ 8
WEDNESDAY
4:30 ‐ 5:30 PM | Grades 1‐8
Please let Deacon Frank know of your willingness to serve by emailing him - DRE@icaparish.org - or by calling the PREP Office - (914) 961‐1076.
No prior teaching experience is necessary. We will train you, provide all your materials, and will “walk with you” every step of the way.
You are invited to join Fr. Sorgie on the rescheduled pilgrimage to the Passion Play in Oberammergau. The itinerary is the same as the 2020 program. The pilgrimage will begin on September 14, 2022, and conclude on September 23, 2022. Please click HERE for the full brochure of information.

The Bishop of Portsmouth (in the Province of Southwark, England) has written a letter calling us to mount a spiritual campaign for Ukraine. Below is an excerpt from the letter:
"Lent is an annual spiritual campaign, a time of renewal and conversion, a time to do battle against evil in ourselves and in others. [...] The weapons we deploy are threefold: prayer, self-denial and charity (almsgiving). So this year, let’s offer up, in union with Christ’s self-sacrifice in the Mass, our Lenten works of prayer, self-denial, and charity for the peoples of Ukraine and for peace. [...]
But as Catholics, above all we can mount what Pius V did, a massive spiritual campaign, offering up to God our Lenten works as a plea for help.
Let’s go back to World War One. In 1917, when the Blessed Virgin reportedly appeared in Fatima, what was Her message? She called on everyone to take up spiritual weapons to re-establish peace in the world. She asked us every day to pray the Rosary, a most powerful prayer that unites us with Christ Her Son. And She invited us to undertake a deep, personal renewal in faith and conversion of our lives. God always hears our prayers, so let us bombard heaven with petitions for peace, offering up our Lenten penance. [...]
So let’s mount a massive spiritual campaign. Let’s make this Lent not just about me, but about others. If you are tempted to slacken your penances or to give into temptations, recall our common purpose: to pray for peace. Let’s make our fasting not just about the odd beer or snack, but something substantial to
implore the Lord’s help. And let’s undertake works of almsgiving and advocacy that, by the power of the Holy Spirit, will change the course of human history."
Finally, after a one-year delay caused by the turmoil of new governance in Albany and the COVID-19 pandemic, I received wonderful news while I am here in Rome. I decided to check in with the CEO of ArchCare, who is managing the restoration and conversion of our spectacular Convent on the Immaculate Conception Campus into a dozen apartments for young adults with high-functioning autism. These young adults must be able to live independently but with a director. This has been a dream of so many in our Archdiocese: to build places for this underserved population which is growing in our communities.
Thanks to His Eminence Cardinal Dolan getting involved in the lobbying for our project, coupled with the finishing of items for the Eastchester Permit Department, I received this long-awaited response from Mr. Scott LoRue, CEO of ArchCare:
"Good afternoon, Fr. Sorgie.
Our project is fully approved and moving forward!”
Mass intentions are recorded for the living and deceased for all of our Masses, and some in 2022 are still available. Please call the Parish Office for availability.
The 2023 Mass Book is now ready and will record all Mass Intentions in 2023. Daily Mass Intentions, which appear in the bulletin, are $20, and Unannounced Mass Intentions are $15. Please note: At any given time, no more than five Mass intentions will be taken.
To arrange for and donate flowers for either church in honor of a loved one, call the Parish Secretary at the number below for details. Information for all memorials can be obtained by calling the Parish Office: (914) 961-3643

It has come to our attention that the names of the pastors of our three local parishes (IHM, St. Joseph's, and ICA) are being used in an email scam. We would like to officially state that Fr. Sorgie would NEVER ask for gift cards or anything of the sort through email. If you have any doubts about the veracity of an email, please call the parish office - (914) 961-3643 - and speak to a staff member before responding.
If Fr. Sorgie were to ask for assistance, he would reach out through more personal means, such as a phone call or speaking in person. Thank you for your assistance in stopping this cyber-crime.
The image below provides an example of where to find the information detailed underneath. It is not an actual Scam email.
The opening of our long-awaited, new Parish Center began with the move of all Parish Offices out of the Rectory. The Parish Center can be entered from the original entrance to the school building. There is a handicap ramp between the Church and School and a new sign to lead you directly to the new center.
For all Parish business, please visit our new offices and see the center as we prepare for its complete opening.
Immaculate Conception Church and Assumption Church are open for Sunday Masses, Weekday Masses, Baptisms, Weddings, Funerals, and Memorial Masses. With that in mind, we must observe the following guidelines. We are excited to welcome you home!
Pandemic Protocols
The Precious Blood will not be offered to the faithful.
Communicants are encouraged to receive Communion in the open hand rather than on the tongue.
The use of hand sanitizer before and after the distribution of Holy Communion is a prudent practice.
Thank you for your understanding and cooperation.
* These Masses will be livestreamed for those who are unable to attend Mass due to health concerns.
My Jesus, I believe that You are present in the Most Holy Sacrament. I love You above all things, and I desire to receive You in my soul. Since I cannot at this moment receive You sacramentally, come at least spiritually into my heart. I embrace You as if You were already there and unite myself wholly to You. Never permit me to be separated from You. Amen.
Come già venuto, io ti abbraccio e tutto mi unisco a te.
Amen.
We are all together in this crisis, and our family of faith that we call the Parish of Immaculate Conception & Assumption of Our Lady has always been and will continue to be with you through this. The construction of the new Columbarium and Terrace Gardens at Holy Mount Cemetery is complete. This project gives our Parishioners – and anyone else – an opportunity to spiritually and respectfully have their loved one’s ashes rest intact on the Sacred Grounds of Holy Mount Cemetery. There are 1,642 niches; some are already sold.
Please call Maria, Administrative Assistant of Holy Mount Cemetery, to schedule an appointment to view the 3-D Model of the Columbarium or to reserve a niche(s) for you or your loved ones at (914) 961-3643 on Monday - Friday from 8:30 AM-4:30 PM. While we have resumed public Masses, we urge all who can to please consider joining the convenient online WeShare automated giving program. Click on this link to set up automatic giving to keep our Parish ready and solvent to reopen with strength and speed when we can. After the page opens, look around WeShare at the collection opportunities and click on the yellow button, "Make a Donation", and follow the directions. God bless you for your continuing sacrifices.
For those of you who have returned to Mass, you will have the opportunity to give your envelopes and contributions at the offertory.
You can also place them in the donation boxes located in both our churches when they are open.Envelope Users may have noticed a difference in this month's packet. We have a new company which will give us better means of address corrections, new parishioner set-ups, and communication with our office computer programs. Fr. Sorgie also thinks they are more handsome. If you wish to join our envelope users, call Cheryl at
914-961-3643.
If you look closely, you will notice that our Gym Mortgage has moved below a million dollars. Thank you for your generosity here and in every way that you contribute to the health of our parish!

"Our Lady, Health of the Sick, and St. Joseph, protect our families from COVID-19,
especially the ill and those who are caring for the sick, the doctors, nurses, who are risking their lives"
On the feast of Our Lady, Help of Christians on May 24, Pope Francis encouraged that we pray a special prayer this year. It is a prayer to ask for the grace to care not only for our most fragile brothers and sisters but also for the home we all share.
Loving God,
Creator of Heaven, Earth, and all therein contained.
Open our minds and touch our hearts,
so that we can be part of Creation, your gift.
Be present to those in need in these difficult times,
especially the poorest and most vulnerable.
Help us to show creative solidarity
as we confront the consequences of the global pandemic.
Make us courageous in embracing the changes
required to seek the common good.
Now more than ever, may we all feel Interconnected and interdependent.
Enable us to succeed in listening and responding
to the cry of the Earth and the cry of the poor.
May their current sufferings become the
birth-pangs of a more fraternal and sustainable world.
We pray through Christ our Lord,
under the loving gaze of Mary Help of Christians,
Amen.
The Archdiocese of New York has initiated a program called “Faith Forward”. This program sets out the process by which we will be reopening our churches for public services. These “Levels” of reopening are:
Level I – Churches Open for Private Prayer and Confession
Level II – Celebration of Baptisms and Marriages (With Limited Attendance)
Level III – Celebration of Daily Masses and Funeral Masses (With Limited Attendance)
Level IV – Celebration of Sunday Masses (With Limited Attendance)
Level V – Resumption of Full Parish Mass Schedules and Sacramental Activities
We are presently in Level IV
The Archdiocese of New York has announced that churches may now fully open their seating.
As a reminder, individuals who are not fully vaccinated must wear a cloth face covering, which covers both the nose and mouth, at all times inside church.
Pray the Act of Consecration along with Cardinal Dolan using the prayers found HERE.
O Mary, you shine continuously on our journey
as a sign of salvation and hope.
We entrust ourselves to you, Health of the Sick.
At the foot of the Cross, you participated
in Jesus’ pain, with steadfast faith.
You, Our Lady of New York, know what we need.
We are certain that you will provide,
so that, as you did at Cana of Galilee,
joy and feasting might return after this moment of trial.
Help us, Mother of Divine Love, to conform ourselves
to the Father’s will and to do what Jesus tells us:
He who took our sufferings upon Himself,
and bore our sorrows to bring us,
through the Cross, to the joy of the Resurrection.
We seek refuge under your protection, O Holy Mother of God.
Do not despise our pleas – we who are put to the test –
and deliver us from every danger,
O glorious and blessed Virgin. Amen.
